August OB Biz Tips: Transition from Winter to Spring Trading!
As we say goodbye to Winter trading, EOFY sales and trade shows we start to look forward to new ranges, new product arriving in store and the countdown to Christmas. How can we best prepare for this?
They say change is as good as a holiday! How can you refresh your store's appearance? Can you move some racks or displays around to make it appear different for your regulars? What can you do to make you, your team (if you have one) and your customers feel like it's all fresh and new?
Set aside a couple of hours where you won't be interrupted and get some butcher paper / recycled paper and spread out on the floor with one page per customer type. Identify them by some demographics. Age, Gender, Price range etc.
Think about your current product offering and what you've seen at trade shows/ new ranges and work out what have you got to offer these various customers? Are some customers top heavy and others are looking lean on options? Then work towards filling those gaps by sourcing products that suit them but still align with your values as a business.
This way, you know you have your bases covered when it comes to the busy Christmas season. Your marketing will also be easier as you've already done the ground work about what each customer demographic can access from you.
